As it has been for the past few days, the sky over Dhaka has been cloudy on Sunday morning. As the day has gone on, the sun has yet to emerge completely.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) says there is likelihood of varying amounts of rain in all districts across the country throughout the day.
Meteorologist Shahanaz Sultana said, “The weather trend is likely to stay like this for the next couple of days. It (the amount of rain) will increase. Most days are likely to have some amount of rain. But after a couple of days, the likelihood of rain will ease and the temperature will rise.”
The BMD’s 9am bulletin on Sunday said that some parts of the Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and one or two places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Barishal divisions will see temporary gusty winds with lightning strikes, rain, or thunderstorms.
Despite the likelihood of rain, day and night temperatures are forecast to rise slightly over the period.
Noakhali’s Maizdicourt saw the most rain over the past 24 hours, recording 89mm. Cox’s Bazar saw 38mm and Bhola 32mm.
The highest temperature was recorded at 34.4 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi’s Baghabari, with the lowest being 19.6 degrees Celsius in Panchagarh’s Tentulia.
