Sheik Moinuddin, the chief advisor's special assistant, has been tasked with overseeing the railways ministry in addition to his assignment at the road transport and bridges ministry.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification to this effect on Monday.
"Sheik Moinuddin has been appointed as the chief advisor's special assistant to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges with the rank of a state minister. Similarly, he has been given additional responsibility as special assistant to the Ministry of Railways to assist the advisor of that ministry. In accordance with the Rules of Business, he has also been given executive authority over the railways ministry," the notice read.
Moinuddin was appointed as a special assistant to the chief advisor on Mar 5.
Since 2023, Moinuddin had been serving as the chief of safety and operations at the California Department of Transportation. Before that, he worked in the same department as a project manager.
He earned a BSc in civil engineering from the University of Louisiana, an MSc in the same field from California State University, and a PhD in infrastructure and environment from the University of California.
