Two more people have died from measles and related symptoms in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities since Mar 15 to 169.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the total fatalities recorded over the past month, 24 were confirmed measles cases, while 145 exhibited symptoms associated with the viral infection.
In a media release issued on Saturday, the DGHS reported 80 new confirmed measles cases in the 24 hours until 8am.
This brings the nationwide tally of confirmed infections to 2,489 since mid-March.
During the same 24-hour window, 888 individuals sought medical attention with measles symptoms, of whom 553 required hospitalisation.
Dhaka remains the hardest-hit region, accounting for 445 of the new symptomatic cases, while Mymensingh recorded the lowest with only five cases.
Data from the health directorate shows that a total of 14,385 people have sought treatment for measles symptoms since Mar 15.
Among them, 9,463 were hospitalised across the country.
To date, 7,022 patients have been discharged from hospitals following recovery.
