BRAC protests news on Fazle Hasan Abed ties to political move

BRAC claims its founder Fazle Hasan Abed is not involved with initiatives to draw up a ‘national guideline’ to overcome the political crisis.

The NGO dubbed a report by banglanews24.com – roughly translated ‘national guideline coming’ -- “baseless” in a rejoinder on Tuesday.

Abed’s name was put on the list of participants of a meeting of eight ‘distinguished citizens’ on Monday night.

The Dhaka-based NGO claimed its chairperson did not take part in the meeting and was not involved with such initiative.

BRAC added it was not contacted to verify the information either.

The rejoinder said such reports tarnished the goodwill of Abed and BRAC.

“We hope the media will refrain from running such misleading news,” it added.
