The interim government has appointed Sharif Osman bin Hadi's brother Omar bin Hadi as second secretary at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Omar bin Hadi is the elder brother of Osman Hadi, convenor of the Inqilab Moncho shot by unidentified assailants in Dhaka on Dec 12, 2025 while campaigning for parliamentary polls election. He later died succumbed to his wounds in Singapore on Dec 18 at the age of 32.
The appointment was made public on Thursday by the Ministry of Public Administration, endorsed by Joint Secretary Abul Hayat Md Rafiq on the president’s order, a development also confirmed by the ministry’s spokesman Md Monsur Hossain.
The post has been offered on a three-year contractual basis, effective from the date of joining.
Omar Hadi completed his studies at Jagannath University and has been working as chief executive officer of a travel and tourism company.
The ministry’s order, however, requires the individual to give up any other profession, business, or employment in government, semi-government, or private organisations.
It noted that the other terms and conditions would be finalised by the contract and said the order was issued in the “public interest”.
