The pro-Awami League doctors’ platform held its fourth council in its 22 years of existence on Nov 13. But halfway into the council, they had decided to leave the decision on the formation of the new committee to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who heads the Awami League.

The new committee was declared on Wednesday.

Arslan was the secretary general of the immediate past committee while Aziz was an executive member.

Arslan is also the secretary general of Bangladesh Medical Association where Aziz is a joint secretary.

Aziz told bdnews24.com “the leader (Hasina) also announced the name of three joint secretaries and three vice-presidents”.

The new vice-presidents of this doctors’ body are: Kanak Kanti Barua, Md Abdur Rouf Sardar and Rokeya Sultana. The joint secretaries are: ASM Zakaria Swapan, Uttam Kumar Barua, and Zulfikar Ali Lenin.

The full committee will have 151 members, Aziz said.

The new executives will place floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 on Wednesday night, he said.
