BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has joined a campaign rally in Nilphamari after concluding his engagement in Thakurgaon.

On Saturday around 1:45pm, he climbed onto the stage at the High School Boro Math, where supporters greeted him with rousing applause.

He responded by waving to the crowd as the gathering swelled across the field.

This visit marks his first appearance in the district since December 2003, when the leader last visited to distribute winter clothing.

After the rally, Tarique is scheduled to fly by helicopter to the Birampur Government College ground in Dinajpur to address another public meeting.

Following his speech there, he will visit the graves of his late maternal grandfather Iskandar Majumder, grandmother Taiyaba Majumder and aunt, former minister Khurshid Jahan Haque.

He will then fly to Saidpur Airport by helicopter before returning to Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight in the evening.

The BNP chief initiated his current election campaign on Jan 22 from the Alia Madrasa field in Sylhet.

To date, he has led 25 election rallies across the country, alongside two specific campaign events in the Korail and Banani areas of his own constituency, Dhaka-17.
