Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 500-bed Jashore Medical College Hospital building.

He unveiled the plaque for the facility at Harina Beel in the Chanchra area of the town on Monday afternoon.

Speaking on the government’s healthcare strategy, Tarique said the focus is on expanding access to treatment while also preventing illness through awareness.

He said a healthy nation is essential for national progress, adding that without a healthy population, development efforts would fall behind.

The BNP government is working towards that goal, the prime minister noted.

Tarique believes that public cooperation will make it easier for the authorities to advance these projects and ensure healthcare reaches every household.

He expresses hope that these efforts will lead to the rapid delivery of medical services across Bangladesh, describing this as the core of the government’s future planning.

The Jashore Medical College, established in 2010, currently has 250 beds.
