Vessel operations on six routes from Dhaka to three coastal districts will remain suspended Saturday as seaports hoist cautionary signal No. 3 due to adverse weather conditions.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, or BIWTA, suspended river transport services on the key coastal routes on Thursday.
Vessel operations from Dhaka to Hatia on Noakhali route, from Dhaka to Betua and Manpura on island district Bhola route, and from Dhaka to Khepupara, Char Montaz, Rangabali on Patuakhali route in the coastal areas have been closed.

On Friday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, or BMD, forecast the rainfall of Sharat, or autumn, at the end of Bengali month Ashwin may persist for two more days in Dhaka and across the country, leading to an increase in river water levels in various regions.
On Saturday, the Met Office said the depression persists over the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal regions.
Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana told bdnews24.com, "It has been raining nationwide under its influence. The rainfall will ease in Dhaka in the afternoon and the situation may improve over the country from Sunday.
“However, scattered rains may occur countrywide until Oct 12 due to the active monsoon trough. It may decrease later.”
In a special warning issued on Friday, the Met Office said due to the influence of active monsoon winds, dense clouds have formed over the northern Bay of Bengal and the coastal areas.
These may cause strong winds over the coastal areas, northern Bay of Bengal and seaports.
