Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has said digitising official transactions of the administration is crucial to fighting corruption.
At a meeting with senior civil servants on Monday, Yunus discussed immediate measures for fast-tracking digital adoption within governmental processes.
According to the Chief Advisor’s Press Wing, key decisions made in the meeting included the compulsory submission of taxes via the e-return portal for all public servants in the greater Dhaka region, alongside initiatives to encourage large corporations to adopt e-return processes.
In addition, a nationwide awareness campaign to promote digitisation in public services will also be launched.
The discussions also highlighted the need to improve the business investment environment through the digitalisation of the National Board of Revenue, or NBR, and the National Single Window project.
Other decisions included ensuring interconnectivity among government institutions and establishing a comprehensive digital roadmap and timeline for land-related public services.
