Hasina opens Joyeeta Tower to facilitate women's economic empowerment

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the Joyeeta Tower in Dhaka's Dhanmondi with the aim of providing a platform for women's economic empowerment.

he premier, accompanied by her sister Sheikh Rehana, also launched the Jamdani Gallery and Joyeeta Marketplace situated in the tower on Tuesday.

After unveiling the inaugural plaque, Hasina explored various clothing outlets, featuring an array of Jamdani sarees and other fabrics, along with a visit to the e-Joyeeta online marketplace.

The tower boasts state-of-the-art facilities to enable women entrepreneurs to pursue diverse business ventures under the Joyeeta brand.

The tower will showcase a wide range of products, supply chains, and services crafted and processed by women, according to the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

Additionally, it will provide training opportunities for women entrepreneurs to enhance their knowledge, skills, management, and development strategies, said Alamgir Hossain, a ministry spokesperson.

The building will serve as the headquarters for the Joyeeta Foundation.

The tower also features various amenities, such as a child daycare centre, a design centre, a beauty parlor, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a seminar hall, and a food court.

Hasina laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 12-storey tower on Dec 1, 2021. The building has been constructed at a cost of Tk 1.68 billion.
