Dense fog suspends ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia, Aricha-Kazirhat routes

Heavy fog has reduced visibility on the routes

Authorities have suspended ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes due to dense fog reducing visibility.

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) halted the services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route around 10pm and Aricha-Kazirhat 9:30pm on Sunday.

BIWTC Acting Deputy Managing Director Md Abdus Salam confirmed the matter to bdnews24.com.

He said, “From 9 pm, the fog on the Paturia-Daulatdia route intensified, obscuring the river’s markers.”

Mohammad Salahuddin, manager of BIWTC’s Daulatdia branch, explained that services were halted to avoid any potential maritime accidents and would resume once visibility improved.
