The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has asked the government and private schools to complete the admission of students selected through the lottery and those on the waiting list by Dec 30.
The admissions of 306,088 students selected through the lottery for admission in first through ninth grade at all public schools and private schools in metropolitan and district Sadar areas started on Wednesday.
Mohammad Aziz Uddin, deputy director of the directorate’s Secondary Wing and member secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan Admission Committee, told bdnews24.com that the selected students will have the chance to complete their admissions in the first six days.
Schools will then admit students from the first waiting list over the next three days and those on the second waiting list over the following two days.
"If any institution wants, it can continue the admission work on Friday and Saturday as well. The admission process must be completed by Dec 30."
A total of 98,205 students have been selected for the 108,716 seats available at 680 public schools. Another 207,883 students have been selected to fill the 1,007,673 seats available at private schools in metropolitan and district Sadar areas.
There are 79,502 applicants on the first waiting list for government schools and 101,156 for private schools. The second waiting list includes 58,558 applicants for public schools and 67,514 for private schools.
According to directives issued by the directorate to the principals and headmasters of public and private schools, the admission process should be completed within six working days per the list of selected candidates in the result sheet.
After completing the admission activities from the selected list, the admission must be completed within three consecutive working days from the first waiting list, provided that seats remain vacant.
Following the first waiting list, the students from the second waiting list must complete their admission within two consecutive working days if seats are vacant.
The heads of government and private educational institutions can access the link https://gsa.teletalk.com.bd, log in with the user ID and password of the institution and click on the download option to get the list of applicants for their institution.
The application information of the students selected for the institution in the digital lottery, the first waiting list, and the second waiting list can also be checked from the site.
By typing the information in the link, it is also possible to know how many times the applicant has applied.
The directives also said that if an applicant had applied multiple times by changing their information, their admission in the digital lottery would be considered cancelled.
All educational institutions will display the selected list of students along with the first and second waiting lists on their website and the notice board.
The documents of the selected students will have to be verified thoroughly.
At the time of scrutinising the documents of the selected students, the original and online copies of the student's birth certificate (if possible, it should be verified online), and the original copies of the national identity card of the parents should be checked thoroughly.
If a selected student provides false information, they cannot be admitted, the directorate said.
It also said that the relevant documents of the students selected for the quotas reserved in the latest admission policy issued by the education ministry should be properly verified at the time of admission.
If the vacant seats for quotas are not filled from the selected list, then these seats will have to be filled from the first and second waiting list respectively.
If the quota seats are still not filled, they will have to be filled from the general group. Seats can also be left empty.
If a seat remains vacant in any educational institution for any reason in the academic year 2025, no student outside the list of students selected in the digital lottery can be admitted to that vacant seat at any time of the year.
