Advisor Mahfuj Alam has said the government will review the appointments of newly appointed advisors if there is any public disinterest in their roles.
“The people will judge the new advisors based on their actions,” he said during a discussion titled 'Maulana Bhashani and the New Bangladesh' held in Tangail on Wednesday.
Mahfuj added, “We believe that those appointed will align with the people's aspirations. Still, if there is any dissatisfaction or reluctance, their work will prove it.”
The event, held on the 48th anniversary of the late leader’s passing, was also attended by Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain.
On Sunday, alongside Mahfuj, Businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin and filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki were appointed as new advisors.
Bashir is the half-brother of former Awami League MP Sheikh Afil Uddin from the Jashore-1 constituency.
Farooki’s past Facebook posts supporting the government during the Awami League’s tenure have recently resurfaced and gone viral.
On the day of Farooki's swearing-in, a protest took place outside Bangabhaban, while the Anti-discrimination Student Movement at Dhaka University labelled him a ‘fascist ally’.
In Chattogram, Hifazat-e Islam staged a demonstration calling for the dismissal of both advisors.
Bashir clarified that he and Afil were always politically and ideologically different.
Farooki argued that he had been against the Awami League since 2012 and had even held secret discussions about it at the American Club.
Mahfuj said, “We have tried to form a government with those who have been with us and supported us through the long struggle. There were many factors we had to consider, and we have managed to fulfil most of them.”
The advisor claimed that their government was "appointed through mass uprising”.
“We are the representatives of the people, and we are running the government as such," he added.
