The body of a missing child has been recovered from a septic tank in Shariatpur’s Sakhipur.

Police retrieved the body on Friday morning from Sakhipur resident Mezbauddin Mollah’s septic tank, said Obaidul Haque, chief of Sakhipur Police Station.

The dead, identified with a single name as 6-year-old Taiyeba, was the daughter of Titu Sardar from the same village.

According to the family, Taiyeba went missing around 5pm on Wednesday. Despite extensive searches, she could not be found.

At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a pink T-shirt. She was a student of a local madrasa.

The discovery of her body cast a shadow of grief over the family and the area.

Obaidul said, “We recovered the body after receiving news. It has been sent to the district hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. Police are investigating the cause of the incident.”

Shahan Sardar, a Sakhipur local, said: “Such a tragic death is unbearable. We are all shocked by the incident. Our only demand is that a proper investigation uncovers the truth behind it.”
