Tarique Rahman has urged party activists to prove that Bogura remains a BNP stronghold by voting for the party’s “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol in the parliamentary elections.
He addressed a roadside rally at Mokamtala Bus Stand in Shibganj Upazila around 3pm on Friday.
Speaking at the rally while travelling from Bogura to Rangpur, Tarique said: “Whenever the Sheaf of Paddy has had the opportunity to form a government through the people’s votes, it has worked for the development of the country and the locality.
“Dear residents of Mokamtala, we want to develop your area once again.”
At the rally, BNP candidate for the Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency Mir Shahe Alam also addressed the gathering.
At least 50,000 party leaders, activists, and locals joined the rally from Mahasthangarh to Rahbal-Do-Seemana to catch a glimpse of Tarique.
Earlier in the day, around 2:30pm, Tarique, accompanied by party activists, visited the shrine of Hazrat Shah Sultan Mahmud Balkhi Mahiswar (R) in Mahasthangarh.
Crowds lined the roads across Bogura, with residents standing by the roadside to welcome their leader.
