BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused a faction of “scheming to sow instability” in Bangladesh.

He said the Awami League left the nation in ruins, and the burden of rescue then fell on the BNP's shoulders.

Now, as the BNP works to push the country forward, a faction is stirring up instability instead, said the local government minister.

"I think this is wrong; they're doing this to drag the country back into instability. We must all stay alert and vigilant.”

History shows saboteurs strike through domestic and international conspiracy whenever the country starts rising, the veteran leader said.

At a rally organised by the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) on Saturday, Fakhrul said the country's highly educated professionals must carry the message that Bangladesh needs political stability under Tarique Rahman's leadership, to build a nation rooted in “development, dignity and equality”.

He urged them to pledge support for that vision under the slogan “Bangladesh First”.
