9-year-old Huzaifa brought to Dhaka for advanced treatment of bullet wound

She was hit by a bullet from across the border in Myanmar while going to buy breakfast with her grandfather

Huzaifa Afnan, the 9-year-old girl shot in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf from across the border in Myanmar, has been brought to Dhaka for advanced treatment.

An air ambulance brought her to the National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital at 11:30pm on Tuesday. She was then admitted, said the hospital’s Joint Director Badrul Alam.

“We have formed a medical board and started treatment. We will provide an update at a later time.”

Huzaifa, the daughter of Jashi Uddin – a resident of Lombabil village in Whykong Union, was shot and injured on Sunday as she went out to buy breakfast with her grandfather.

Afte she was shot, her uncle Shawkat Ali took her from Teknaf to Chattogram for treatment. That night, doctors at Chittagong Medical College Hospital operated on her, but were unable to remove the bullet.

She has been brought to Dhaka without a significant improvement in her condition.
