Police arrest 564 in 24-hour Dhaka crackdown

The arrests have been made across all major divisions of the capital

Police have arrested 564 people in a regular 24-hour drive across Dhaka, filing 58 cases.

The arrests were made from 6am Thursday to 6am Friday, according to a statement by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The arrests include 26 in Ramna Division, 40 in Lalbagh, 79 in Wari, 77 in Motijheel, 114 in Tejgaon, 153 in Mirpur, 36 in Gulshan, 35 in Uttara and four by the Detective Branch.

Police recovered 2,194 yaba tablets, 3.71kg of cannabis, 62g of heroin, six mobile phones, seven pairs of stolen shoes, 200.15g of gold ornaments and 1,000 pieces of coloured paper during the operation.

The drives were carried out in different police station jurisdictions across the capital.

Legal action against those arrested is under way, the DMP said.
