Yunus urges deputy commissioners to keep a close watch on law and order

He also calls on them to adopt necessary measures to keep the market prices of essentials in check

Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has instructed deputy commissioners, or DCs, to keep a watchful eye on the law and order situation across the country.

He made these comments at the opening of the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference on Sunday.

The chief advisor also emphasised the need for measures to control the prices of essential goods, according to a report by state news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

In the evening, the head of the interim government is scheduled to meet with the Bangladesh Administrative Service Association, followed by a dinner.

On the second day of the conference, the DCs will pay a courtesy visit to the chief justice. Later in the evening, they will attend a reception hosted by the head of the judiciary at the Supreme Court premises.

This year’s conference will feature 34 sessions, according to Additional Secretary Mohammed Khaled Rahim of the Cabinet Division. The division received 1,245 proposals from divisional and deputy commissioners for the conference, of which 353 were included in the agenda.

With the 13th parliamentary election approaching, the Election Commission will participate in a session on Tuesday, the final day of the conference. This marks the first time the Election Commission is joining the DC conference, as they usually meet with field-level officers ahead of elections.

Due to political changeover, there will be no session with the president.
