Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has sent his congratulations to Muhammad Yunus for assuming the responsibilities of chief advisor to the interim government.
He has also pledged his government’s humanitarian support for the recent flooding in the country.
The Turkish president called the chief advisor by phone on Tuesday and promised to stand by Bangladesh amid the ongoing natural disaster, according to state-run news agency BSS.
He also expressed his condolences for the loss of life and property in the flooded areas.
Erdoğan also spoke of sending a high-powered delegation to assist Bangladesh in reconstruction efforts.
The president then invited Yunus to visit Turkey. Yunus thanked him for the invitation and said he would make the visit at a time that was convenient.
