Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has made inquiries about Eid travel across the country and whether travellers are suffering on their trips to their ancestral homes.
Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said, “Honourable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has had a busty day. He has spoken to related administrative officials on whether there was any disruption in Eid travel across the country, whether traffic congestion was creating public suffering, and whether people travelling by launch were reaching home safely. He also gave them necessary directives.”
‘‘The prime minister also received updates from officials about last minute preparations at the State Guest House Jamuna and National Eidgah in case of any natural disaster.”
EXCHANGING GREETING WITH LONDON EXPATS
For 17 long years, Tarique has celebrated Eid in London. Now he will celebrate the festival in Dhaka on Friday as the head of Bangladesh’s government.
“The honourable prime minister’s acquaintances from London and Saudi Arabia have been calling him. He has been exchanging Eid greetings with them,” the additional press secretary said.
‘‘This is because Tarique Rahman celebrated Eid with them for 17 years.”
The prime minister offered the Jumatul Bida or prayers on the last Friday in Ramadan at the Central Jaame Mosque at the Navy Headquarters in Banani at noon, Ruman said.
