Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to address the nation amid the ongoing tensions surrounding the quota movement.

The prime minister's address will begin at 7:30pm on Wednesday and be broadcast by the national media, her office said.

The premier usually addresses the nation at the start of the year, ahead of holidays, or days of national significance. The Prime Minister's Office did not make any comment on the content of her speech.

However, an official at the PMO said she may speak about the 'emerging situation'.
