Flight operations to Middle Eastern destinations are resuming at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram after a series of cancellations linked to the escalating conflict involving Iran.

Airport authorities said Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-135 to Jeddah was scheduled to depart Chattogram at 4:10pm on Sunday.

Public Relations Officer Ibrahim Khalil told bdnews24.com that the airport had been informed of the departure of the Jeddah-bound flight.

“We have yet to receive any information regarding other airlines,” he said.

A fresh wave of tensions in the Middle East followed air strikes by Israel and the United States on Iran on Saturday, with Iran launching retaliatory attacks on US bases across the region. Several countries subsequently closed their airspace, disrupting commercial flights.

Ibrahim said three outbound and three inbound flights were cancelled on Saturday. As of Sunday afternoon, three outbound and seven inbound flights had also been cancelled.
