Dhaka, June 12 (BDNEWS) – Of the country's approved private land phone operators, Bijoy Phone of Jalalabad Telecom is going to offer commercial connections to its subscribers in Sylhet from the end of this month and Onetel of Onetel Communication in Rajshahi division from the end of July.
As those operators are among the 10 private land phone operators who signed the BTTB interconnectivity agreements, their subscribers would be able to make calls to T&T along with other land phones and mobile phone operators.
Officials of those operators Sunday said that each of them would distribute 60,000 connections in the first phase.
Mohammad Manik, an official of Jalalabad Telecom Ltd (JTL) told BDNEWS that after the commercial launch in Sylhet city along with its adjacent upazilas, JTL would bring 16 districts of the approved northeast zone, including grater Mymenshigh, Narayangang and Tangail; and Dhaka district, excluding the metropolitan area, under its network in phases.
Of its two types of connections, a wireless and a cable type connection fees would be fixed between Tk 8,000 and Tk 10,000.
Jalalabad will charge Tk 1.50 per three minutes pulse for outgoing local call during peak hour and Tk 1 per three minutes during off-peak hour.
The charge is applicable for both JTL to JTL and JTL to BTTB and other PSTN calls. The company charges Tk 3 per minute and Tk 1.50 per minute for peak hour and off peak hour respectively for outgoing calls within zone in case of JTL to JTL and PSTN calls. In case of JTL to BTTB calls, the charge is Tk 4 and Tk 3 respectively.
In case of Inter-zone outgoing calls, the charge for JTL to JTL and PSTN is Tk 4 and Tk 2.50 during peak hour and off-peak hour respectively. For JTL to BTTB the charge is Tk 5 and Tk 4 respectively.
In case of International calls, the charge is Tk 2+BTTB charge and Tk 1+BTTB charges for JTL to any country. For JTL to any mobile, the charge is Tk 3 per minute during peak hour and Tk 2 per minute during off-peak hour.
All incoming calls (JTL to JTL, BTTB to JTL, PSTN to JTL and any mobile to JTL) are free.
Mahtabul Amin, manager of Onetel (marketing and sales) told BDNEWS that call tariff of the Onetal would be the same as all operators would fix the same rates according to the suggestion of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regularity Commission.
He said that the operator would go for the commercial launch in five districts - Rajshahi, Rangpur, Bogra, Pabna and Sirajganj - of its approved northwest zone in its first phase.
The wireless type connection fee along with its phone set would also be fixed between Tk 8,000 and Tk 10,000.
Official of the operators also claimed that the main features of those would be the confirmation of connections within 24 hours after submitting application and the quality customer service at free of cost.
Customers of Bijoy and Onetel would enjoy better and quality service than that of the BTTB along with ISD, NWD and local connection facilities through dealerships in the Sylhet, the officials claimed.
Besides, their pre-paid and post-paid billing systems, other facilities, including caller ID, call waiting, call hunting, call forwarding, call conference and internet facilities, would be included.
Though the interconnections between these operators and other PSTN operators are yet to be ensured, from the commercial launch, their subscribers would also enjoy all facilities.
