OpenAI's entry into the search engine market with ChatGPT Search has prompted Google to intensify its AI efforts, aiming to secure its lead in search.
According to Mashable, Google’s latest feature—a conversational voice-to-search tool—lets users speak queries directly into Google Search and receive immediate, interactive responses.
Unlike earlier versions, which required users to restart by tapping the microphone for each new question, this update enables ongoing conversation.
Users can ask follow-up questions without additional input, making searches more natural and dynamic.
In response to queries, Google provides both traditional search links and AI-powered summaries, delivering relevant information continuously based on the conversation flow.
Although the feature is not yet available to the public, it represents Google’s effort to keep pace with advances in voice-to-text capabilities by OpenAI and others.
The rollout of similar AI-driven features is likely soon as Google works to stay competitive in an evolving search landscape.
