Bogra, Dec 5 (bdnews24.com) - The Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur has become country's seventh international cricket venue earning recognition Tuesday from International Cricket Council (ICC).
"The relevant documents of approval for the stadium has arrived today (Tuesday)," said BCB General Secretary Mahbub Anam Tuesday.
Anam said that Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium will host both version of the game - one-dayer and Test.
The approval meant the fourth and fifth match of the ongoing ODI series against Zimbabwe will take place at the new venue. The matches are billed for Friday and Saturday.
ICC Match Referee Ranjan Madhugale, also a match referee in the series, inspected the stadium last Friday before going to Bogra Saturday.
With the approval, Bangladesh now has seven international cricket venues -- Bangabandhu National Stadium and Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, MA Aziz Stadium and Bir Shrestha Shahid Ruhul Amin Stadium in Chittagong, Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogra, Narayanganj Osmani Stadium at Fatullah and Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Khulna.
However, the Khulna venue is approved to host only one-day matches.
