Borussia Dortmund have appointed Ole Book as their sporting director, the Bundesliga club said on Monday.

The 40-year-old joined the eight-time German champions on a contract until June 2029, arriving from SV Elversberg where he oversaw a rapid rise from the fourth tier to the second.

Book replaced Sebastian Kehl, who left the position on Sunday. Dortmund are second in the table, trailing Bayern Munich by nine points with seven matches remaining in the season.
