The Bangladesh Women’s Team has returned home carrying the top prize in the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 in Nepal.
The team, including captain Sabina Khatun and Ritu Porna Chakma – who scored a brace in the final, arrived at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday afternoon.
Bangladesh beat Nepal in a tense 2-1 final at the Dasharath Rangasala stadium in Kathmandu on Wednesday to retain the crown they had won in the 2022 edition of the South Asian women’s football championship.
The team was greeted with flowers at the airport. The Bangladesh Football Federation has also arranged an open-top bus for the returning champions.
Two years ago, the BFF had arranged for an open-top bus to take the champions to the BFF Building after their victory in the 2022 tournament. The team will now enjoy the celebrations for a second time after securing the back-to-back tournament wins.
