They were in Europe when the tragedy befell the family of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975; they have crossed many hurdles in life together since.

In 2017, the two sisters went down memory lane to relive some of their happy moments in Europe when both were in exile.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Rehana had fun in snow-covered Switzerland where the former attended the World Economic Forum meet in Davos.
In one picture, the prime minister is seen strewing snow over Rehana’s head – a feather common in snow-drenched European cities where kids are playing with snow balls.
After around seven years in exile, Hasina came to Bangladesh on May 17, 1981 to take the helm of the Awami League.
The party under her leadership came to power after nearly two decades in 1996 and later in two consecutive terms from 2009.
Rehana has been living in London with her family since the 80s.
Her daughter Tulip Siddiq is a Labour Party member of British parliament.
Hasina was the first elected leader from Bangladesh to be invited in WEF.
The two sisters met in Switzerland on Jan 16 at the end of Davos conference to create the happy moment.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali are also seen in two pictures.
Palak later posted some of the pictures on his Facebook page saying he had the privilege to be “part of the happy moment with two daughters of the Father of the Nation.”
