The BNP government will implement all its electoral pledges one by one and the people will prevent any obstacles in the process, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said.

Addressing a mass rally at Chandpur Sadar Upazila on Saturday afternoon, he urged the people to stay vigilant and warned them of being trapped and misled by “troublemakers”.

The event followed the launch of the re-excavation of the “Bishwa Canal” adjacent to Ghosher Haat in Kumarduli village of Shahmahmudpur Union.

Highlighting the nationwide canal excavation drive, he said a vested quarter started misleading people when the government rolled out different cards to ensure public amenities.

According to him, the people were concerned about the Feb 12 election, which is why they voted the BNP to power to ensure service schemes, including the family and farmers cards.

He said, “Today [Saturday], I want to clearly tell thousands of people that we will implement the electoral pledges as they have supported us.

“If anyone wants to thwart the plans, the people of Bangladesh will foil their conspiracies,” he said, adding that the government does not need to do anything in the process since the public will deal with any such issue.

Saying the public-friendly development projects will bring fortune, PM Tarique pledged: “We will not fall into the trap of perpetrators.”

He further warned that the working class, especially the low-income groups, will suffer if they pay heed to propaganda.

Tarique said, “You must be aware so they cannot create confusion and obstruct the programmes we have taken to create employment.

“We have only one goal in front of us: to reconstruct this country and change the fate of the people, and we have started working accordingly,” he added.
