BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has visited the graves of his younger brother and father-in-law in Dhaka, a day after paying tribute at his father’s burial site.

Tarique arrived at Banani Graveyard around 2pm on Saturday to visit the grave of his younger brother, Arafat Rahman Coco. He stood by the grave for several minutes and offered prayers.

He later went to the Banani Military Graveyard, where his father-in-law, former chief of Navy Staff Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan, is buried. Tarique also offered prayers there.

Coco died of heart disease in Malaysia on Jan 25, 2015. At the time, Tarique was living in exile in London. Coco’s body was brought back to Bangladesh the following day and buried at Banani Graveyard.

Tarique returned to Bangladesh on Dec 25 after spending more than 17 years in exile in the United Kingdom. Since his return, he has taken part in a series of public and personal engagements.

On Friday afternoon, he visited the grave of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman and later paid tribute at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar. On Saturday morning, he visited the graves of Inqilab Moncho convener Osman Hadi and national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at Dhaka University.

Earlier on Saturday, Tarique also completed voter registration formalities at the Election Training Institute building in Agargaon.
