BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s planned transfer to London for advanced treatment has been delayed as the special air ambulance provided by Qatar’s emir has yet to reach Dhaka.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the air ambulance was experiencing technical issues. It will arrive on Saturday if the problem can be resolved soon, he added.

“If Madam (Khaleda) is fit to travel and the medical board approves, then, In Sha Allah, she will fly out on the 7th (Sunday).”

Meanwhile, Khaleda’s daughter-in-law Zubaida Rahman is on her way to Dhaka from London.

She is scheduled to arrive on board a Biman Bangladesh flight at 10:53am, according to Atikur Rahman Rumon, a BNP spokesman.

“From here [the airport], she is scheduled to go directly to Evercare Hospital.”
