The interim government and the National Consensus Commission have deceived all parties except Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizens Party (NCP), said Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary Rashed Khan.

He questioned whether the government had the capacity to hold parliamentary elections and a referendum within four months, saying: “The government has not been able to build its fitness in 14 months. It has only four months in hand now. Does the government have the capacity to hold two elections in these four months?”

"The government has started a conspiracy to sabotage the general election in February by bringing up the issue of a referendum in November, through which only the Awami League will benefit."

Rashed made this comment in a post on his Facebook account on Thursday.

He said, "Since the consensus commission made recommendations to the government without a note of dissent, why was the state’s money wasted in this case for nine months?"

"Rather, couldn't a referendum have been held on 84 issues nine months ago? Anyway, the interim government and the consensus commission have deceived all parties except Jamaat and the NCP. A deep conspiracy is being hatched against the country, making another 1/11 inevitable!"

Rashed said, "Voting on the same day for the national election and the July Charter - yes. Referendum before the national election - no."

"The National Consensus Commission presented a proposal to the parties that experts had given their opinions in favour of holding the general election and the referendum on the same day. Then all the parties except Jamaat agreed to it. Even the NCP took a stance in its favour."

"But, the next day the NCP pivoted its position. Everyone must have heard what I said at that time. Since then, there has been news in the media that Jamaat and NCP have adopted the same stance."

He claimed, "The NCP does not want the media to know that Jamaat has ties to it. They want to keep the relationship secret."

The general secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad said, “The NCP is criticising Jamaat on PR issues to show that the two parties hold different positions and have no relationship with each other."
