Chief Advisor Yunus to meet with leaders of 7 more parties

Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus is set to meet with leaders from seven more political parties.

The meeting is to be held at 5pm on Tuesday at his official residence, the State Guest House Jamuna, the Chief Advisor’s Office said.

On Sunday, the chief advisor met separately with representatives from the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP) on the upcoming election and current events.

Following the meetings, Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the chief advisor, said at a briefing on Sunday night: “The chief advisor told them clearly that the election will be held within the timeframe that he announced during his address to the nation. This means a free and fair election will be held in a festive atmosphere in February. The chief advisor updated the political parties about his activities regarding the election.

Shafiqul said, “The chief advisor said that the election will be held peacefully and in a festive atmosphere. He said repeatedly that it will be ‘one of the best’ elections in Bangladesh’s history.”
