Pakistan’s new High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider has met with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The meeting took place at 10:30am at the parity’s chairperson's office in Gulshan on Saturday.
BNP Standing Committee members Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Organising Secretary Shama Obaid were also in attendance.
Neither side has made any formal comment about the meeting.
On Aug 17, the new Pakistani envoy presented his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin. He replaced Syed Ahmed Maroof, who had been serving in Dhaka since December 2023.
Maroof went on sudden leave in early May and never returned.
Pakistani diplomat Haider was most recently the ambassador to Myanmar. Before that, he served as the ambassador to Tajikistan.
