BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has exchanged views with youth ahead of a planned rally in Chattogram.

The exchange of views, titled “The Plan: Youth Policy Talk with Tarique Rahman”, is being held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the port city from 10am on Sunday.

Around 340 students from 50 colleges and universities in and around Chattogram are taking part in the programme, according to party sources.

Previously, Tarique attended a similar youth-focused discussion in Sylhet last Thursday before launching his election campaign there.

The BNP chairman is scheduled to join a public meeting at the Polo Ground in Chattogram at 11:30am.

He will later address a series of election rallies at Feni Pilot School Ground at 4pm, Chauddagram High School Ground in Cumilla at 5:30pm, Suagazi Digbaji Ground at 7pm, Daudkandi Eidgah Ground at 7:30pm, and Kanchpur Balurmat at 11:30pm.

Tarique returned to the country on Dec 25 after spending nearly 17 years in exile in London.

Addressing the nation on his return, he said: “I have a plan.”

Exactly a month after his return, the BNP chief is set to join the party’s general meeting at the Polo Ground in Chattogram.

Local BNP leaders say they are hopeful that he will elaborate on that plan before the people of the port city.

Tarique last addressed a public meeting in Chattogram on May 6, 2005, at the Laldighi Ground, when he served as the party’s senior joint secretary general.

This time, he is visiting the city as the BNP chairman.

He will address the rally at the Polo Ground at 11am on Jan 25.

The venue last hosted a BNP rally on Jan 9, 2012, when party chairperson Khaleda Zia addressed a public gathering there.
