BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been discharged from the coronary care unit or CCU of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
She is under close observation in the cabin following the advice of the medical board formed for her treatment, her personal physician AZM Zahid Hossain said after the transfer on Thursday.
The medical board’s treatment was based on reports of emergency tests the former prime minister had on Wednesday night after her admission in the evening, Zahid said.
The 79-year-old politician has been suffering from a range of health issues, including arthritis, heart disease, lung, liver and kidney ailments, and diabetes.
Convicted of graft in two cases in 2017, Khaleda had served her jail term until the government released her on a suspended sentence in 2020 on health grounds.
She has been staying at her home in Gulshan and frequenting the hospital for care.
The government has denied her permission to leave Bangladesh for treatment abroad on several occasions.
