Mirza Fakhrul meets US envoy Jacobson

It is part of a series of meetings with different political parties hosted by the new chargé d'affaires of the United States embassy, a party leader says

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has held a meeting at the invitation of US Charge d'Affaires in Dhaka Tracey Ann Jacobson.

The meeting at the residence of the US embassy’s top diplomat took place between 10am and 11am on Thursday, said the party's Organising Secretary Shama Obaid, who was present at the event.

"It is part of a series of meetings with different political parties hosted by the new chargé d'affaires of the United States. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended the meeting today at her invitation,” she said.

“Jacobson sought the BNP's opinion on the country's current circumstances, the economic condition, and what the BNP thinks about the election.”

BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury was also in attendance.

The three-strong BNP delegation entered the residence of the US charge d'affaires in Dhaka’s Gulshan at 10am and left at 11:10am.
