The European Union’s Election Observation Mission says it will publish its preliminary findings on Bangladesh’s national election on Feb 14.

Chief Observer Ivars Ijabs made the announcement after visiting a polling station at Curzon Hall on the Dhaka University campus.

He said the mission was “fully neutral” and not involved in any political process.

“We are observing the election and later, on 14th of February, we will produce a preliminary report on how the election has been conducted,” he said.

Ijabs added that observers deployed across the country had been sending in information and that the mission had begun compiling data for what he described as a credible report.

“Up until noon today, we have seen positive enthusiasm for participation among Bangladeshi citizens,” he said.
