Dhaka battles heat before monsoon’s end

As the calendar edges towards the end of Shrabon, the relentless monsoon rains have given way to fierce sunlight. Weather forecasts for Monday indicated light to moderate showers across eight divisions, yet the day dawned with the sun glaring fiercely. As the afternoon wore on, the intense sunlight left commuters and workers sweltering on the streets. A stifling, “gasping for air” atmosphere settled over the capital.
