The enduring charm of traditional pottery

There was a time when earthenware was central to daily life. From cooking pots to everyday utensils, most items were made from clay. Over time, that tradition became outdated. Now, such handcrafted clay items are mostly bought by enthusiasts more for their aesthetic appeal and as a symbol of heritage to decorate homes and offices. A wholesale market for pottery products remains in the Farashganj area of Old Dhaka's Sutrapur, where items arrive from across the country.
