Boats take to the sea as fishing ban lifts

A 58-day ban on fishing hilsa and all other kinds of fish in the Bay of Bengal lifted at midnight on Wednesday, Jun 11, 2025. Fishermen hope to catch huge hauls of hilsa as this year’s ban was coordinated with neighbouring India. After being out of work for nearly two months, they are now busy preparing their equipment to take to the sea on fishing trawlers.
