Centennial Sikkatuli Pond nears extinction

Due to long-term lack of renovation and cleaning, the water of the centennial Sikkatuli Pond in Old Dhaka has become unfit for use. Although the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) used to keep this pond clean merely two years ago, it has not taken any initiative to renovate or protect it since the July Uprising. The pond, about 0.13 hectare in size, is also known as the “Bangshal Pond” on the northern side of Kazi Alauddin Road.
