Flooded capital, stranded lives

Hours of relentless rain brought much of Dhaka to a standstill on Sunday as floodwater swallowed streets from neighbourhood lanes to the capital's busiest roads. Motijheel, Arambagh, the Dainik Bangla intersection, Dhanmondi, Green Road, New Market and several other areas were left inundated, with disrupted public transport and crippling traffic leaving commuters stranded.
