The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has requested bank transaction details for 28 journalists from various newspapers, TV channels, and online news platforms.
Acting on a directive from the Ministry of Information, the BFIU sent letters to banks, asking for complete account information for these journalists.
This includes details on any bank lockers, savings certificates, credit cards, or other financial assets, along with transaction records.
Among the journalists whose information has been requested are Naeem Nizam, editor of Bangladesh Pratidin, Farida Yasmin, former president of the National Press Club Zayadul Ahsan Pintu, head of news at DBC News, Subhash Singha Roy, chief editor of ABnews24.com, Haider Ali, executive editor of Kaler Kantho, ZI Mamun of ATN, Syed Borhan Kabir, editor of Bangla Insider, Shaban Mahmud, press minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, Mirza Mehedi Tamal, city editor of Bangladesh Pratidin, and chief reporter Zulker Nain Rono, Alamgir Hossain, editor of Samakal, Madhusudan Mondal of BSS, Masud Ayub Curzon of DBC, Mainul Islam, executive editor of Amader Shomoy, journalist Farazi Azmal Hossain, Boishakhi TV's Ashok and Rahul Raha, Rezaul Karim Lotus, editor of the Daily Sun, Ashiqur Rahman Shraban, deputy chief news editor of News24, Abdullah Al Mamun, former special correspondent of Jugantor, Rafiqul Islam Ratan, former editor of Swadesh Pratidin, Sheikh Jamal Hossain, editor of Dainik Mukhapatra, Aditya Arafat, special correspondent at DBC News, Tawhidul Islam Sourav, special correspondent at ATN News, Sheikh Mamunur Rashid, special correspondent at Jugantor, journalist Shyamal Sarker, Abul Khair, city editor of Daily Ittefaq, and Santosh Sharma, editor and administrator of Daily Kalbela.
