Faridpur, Feb 21 (BDNEWS) – A fortnightly Jasim Palli Mela will begin on Wednesday on the bank of the river Kumar of Gobindapur village in Ambikapur Union under Sadar Upazila, the ancestral home of poet Jasimuddin.
A total of 150 stalls have been allocated this time in the fair. Various traditional handicraft items made by the villagers will be displayed in the fair.
Apart from this, cultural functions will be held every day on the Jasim Mancha from 9 am to 9 pm. About 70 cultural organisations are going to take part in the fair.
On February 25 the Faridpur Shahitya Parishad will accord reception to Rupai, Asmani and Hajera Bibi, live protagonists of Jasimuddin's ballads.
The Jasim Foundation and BSCIC will jointly organise the fair. Son-in-law of the poet Law Minister Barrister Moudud Ahmed will inaugurate the fair at 3 pm on Wednesday.
