Six people have died of dengue in the past 24 hours across the country, with 1,655 others admitted to hospital during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Monday that those who died had been admitted to different hospitals in Rajshahi Division.
The deaths bring the year's dengue toll to 190. Of those, 93 have died in just the first 20 days of September -- the highest monthly figure so far this year.
The total number of dengue hospitalisations this year has now climbed to 63,627.
Among those admitted in the past 24 hours, 166 were hospitalised in the Dhaka North City Corporation area and 167 in the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
Another 281 were admitted to hospitals elsewhere in Dhaka Division.
In other divisions, admissions stood at 217 in Barisal, 314 in Chittagong, 271 in Khulna, 43 in Mymensingh, 146 in Rajshahi, 41 in Rangpur, and nine in Sylhet.
The health directorate has been tracking dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000. The worst year on record remains 2023, when 321,179 patients were admitted and 1,705 people died.
Last year, dengue claimed more than 400 lives, with around 102,000 cases recorded.
