The death toll from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease this year stands at 290

Four people have died of dengue, while 1,154 more patients been hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease throughout Bangladesh in the past 24 hours.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, or DGHS, as of Wednesday morning, 415 new patients were admitted to hospitals in different areas of Dhaka's two city corporations in the previous 24 hours.
On top of it, 221 patients were admitted in the Dhaka Division, 44 in Mymensingh Division, 132 in Chattogram Division, 145 in Khulna Division, 65 in Rajshahi Division, 36 in Rangpur Division, 94 in Barishal Division, and 2 in Sylhet Division.
With the new counts, the number of hospitalised dengue patients has reached 60,574 this year. A total of 290 people died among them.
As many as 3,966 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country. They include 1,952 in the capital and 2,014 outside Dhaka.
The DGHS has been keeping records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
Since then, a record 321,179 dengue hospitalisations were logged in 2023. The highest 1,705 people also died of the disease that year.
