Bangladesh has recorded 868 fresh dengue hospitalisations in the past 24 hours, with no deaths reported during this period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) put out the figure in a Thursday bulletin, covering admissions since Wednesday morning.

Of these, 68 were admitted under Dhaka North City Corporation and 98 under Dhaka South, with 150 more admitted in the rest of the division outside the two corporations.

By division, Barishal recorded 110 admissions, Chattogram 109, Khulna 205, Mymensingh 38, Rajshahi 73 and Rangpur 17.

Meanwhile, 865 patients were discharged in the same window.

The DGHS said 88 people have died of dengue this year, including 34 in August alone.

Since Jan 1, some 32,248 people have been hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease, of whom 30,077 have recovered.

The directorate has tracked dengue cases since 2000. The worst year on record was 2023, when 321,179 people were hospitalised and 1,705 died, the highest annual toll to date.

Last year, dengue killed more than 400 people, with around 102,000 cases recorded.
